Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum
Military veterans have shaped our state and nation through their service and devotion. For many, that service did not stop when they reentered civilian life. The Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum preserves and shares the memory and legacy of Wyoming’s veterans. The VM shares their stories and accomplishments from the Spanish-American War to the Global War on Terror.
Besides veteran’s history, the VM preserves and shares the history of the Casper Army Air Base. CAAB trained B-17 and B-24 combat crews during the Second World War. Between 16,000 and 18,000 trainees passed through Casper before seeing service overseas. After the war, CAAB transformed into the modern Casper/Natrona County International Airport and served as a regional Air National Guard base.
The VM is based in the old CAAB Enlistedmen’s Service Club building. Veteran’s exhibits highlight individual service stories, while the “Wings of Freedom” exhibit explores CAAB’s history and impact. Our collection of military history and reference books are available to the public. Museum staff can provide guided tours, hands-on activities, and outreach programs upon request.
