The Joint Forces Headquarters Public Affairs team of the Wyoming National Guard proudly announces its recent victories in the esteemed Defense Media Merit Awards (DMMA). Recognized for outstanding contributions in journalism and videography, the team clinched top honors in the Publication category for the 2022 Cowboy Guard and secured second place in the Short-form Production Video category for their showcase of the 2023 Vigilant Guard exercise.

Taking Flight: 153rd Airlift Wing’s C-130 Hercules and Airmen Depart for Deployment

In late November 2023, the Wyoming Air National Guard’s 153rd Airlift Wing deployed over 130 troops in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to the U.S. Africa Command area of responsibility. Led by U.S. Air Force Col. Barry Deibert, the dedicated team had undergone nearly a year of rigorous training to prepare for real-world missions involving the C-130 Hercules aircraft, specializing in tactical airlift. Their commitment and resilience shone as they overcame challenges during aircraft launch. The community of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and the nation as a whole were acknowledged for their support. The deployment was expected to last less than 180 days, with updates promised as the mission progressed.
