Wyoming STARBASE Academy FAQ's
All STARBASE Academies are charged with providing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curriculum to student groups that are underrepresented in STEM careers when they enter the workforce. Because of this, priority is given to identified Title 1 schools and those schools that could qualify for Title 1 funding.
Students are required to bring a Positive Learning Attitude (PLA) with them while attending the academy – this is a must! Students also need to have a cold lunch (no microwaves are available) and wear layered clothing appropriate for the time of year.
The curriculum for all Dod STARBASE Academies has been designed by a team of leading educators and scientists for the US Department of Defense. This curriculum focuses on STEM – science, technology, engineering, and math. The curriculum meets or exceeds the national standards in each area. Please check out the About Us section of the DoD STARBASE website for more information about our curriculum.
STARBASE Academies are funded by the US Department of Defense in partnership with local military units – Wyoming’s is the Wyoming National Guard. In addition to this funding, the Wyoming STARBASE Foundation also provides additional support and funding to extend programs beyond the scope provided by federal funding.
