Brig. Gen. Gregory C. Porter will assume command of the Wyoming National Guard on March 28, at 3:30 p.m., at the Red Lion Hotel & Conference Center Cheyenne.

Porter will assume the duties of the adjutant general from Maj. Gen. K. Luke Reiner.

Reiner will retire in a ceremony immediately following the Change of Command; he served as Wyoming’s adjutant general for eight years. He has been appointed by Gov. Mark Gordon to lead the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

“This has been an amazing eight years marked by growth and change, I am proud to have served as Wyoming’s adjutant general,” said Reiner. “I am confident the Wyoming Military Department will continue to make great strides under General Porter’s leadership.”

Porter, who will be pinned as a major general during the event, most recently served as the director of the joint staff at the Joint Force Headquarters, in Cheyenne.

“I am humbled and honored by this opportunity and look forward to continuing to serve with that 1 percent of this nation who wears a combat uniform,” Porter said.
