Oct 18, 2018
Lt. Col. Jeremy Schaad assumed command of the Wyoming Air National Guard’s 153rd Operations Group during an Oct. 13 assumption of command ceremony on base.
As commander of the group, Schaad will lead hundreds of airmen across four support squadrons – the 187th Air Squadron, 153rd Operations Support Squadron, 243rd Air Traffic Control Squadron and the 187th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. The group also possesses the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System, or MAFFS, mission.
“The Operations Group is a special place,” said Col. Justin Walrath, 153rd Airlift Wing commander. “I’m pleased to have someone like Lt. Col Schaad at the helm. You can see how this place has changed since Lt. Col. Schaad got here. Because of who he is, people are stepping up and volunteering.”
Prior to becoming the 153rd Operations Group Commander, Schaad served as the group’s deputy commander.
“Our mission hasn’t changed,” said Schaad during the ceremony. “We’re going to maintain a laser focus on lethality.”
Schaad has flown more than 3,500 hours in a number of cargo aircraft models since entering the Wyoming Air National Guard in 2001. He also has experience flying combat sorties in support of many overseas operations.
“You’re not here for me; you’re here for our customers,” said Schaad. “You will always be there and you will always be ready.”
Schaad is a 2010 graduate of the United States Air Force Weapons School. His prior assignments include 187th Airlift Squadron commander, 153rd Chief of Executive Services, 187th Airlift Squadron director of operations and several other roles in the Wyoming Air National Guard.
