Fire Response Update

Several local agencies, including three UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and crews from the Wyoming Army National Guard, as well as one Wyoming Air National Guard fire truck and crew along with two water tankers, are responding to a large grass fire near Koster Road, approx. 16 miles west of Cheyenne. Laramie County Fire Authority is leading the response.

Taking Flight: 153rd Airlift Wing’s C-130 Hercules and Airmen Depart for Deployment

In late November 2023, the Wyoming Air National Guard’s 153rd Airlift Wing deployed over 130 troops in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to the U.S. Africa Command area of responsibility. Led by U.S. Air Force Col. Barry Deibert, the dedicated team had undergone nearly a year of rigorous training to prepare for real-world missions involving the C-130 Hercules aircraft, specializing in tactical airlift. Their commitment and resilience shone as they overcame challenges during aircraft launch. The community of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and the nation as a whole were acknowledged for their support. The deployment was expected to last less than 180 days, with updates promised as the mission progressed.

A Lasting Impression through Professional Military Education

The Wyoming Air National Guard sends several officers to various professional development opportunities each year. Among those opportunities is Professional Military Education (PME). PME is part of a developmental system that helps prepare officers from all services for command and staff work in a joint context.

“A primary part of our Wyoming mission is to provide ready and professional personnel and formations capable of winning the fight. To do this, we need to invest in our leaders and provide them with training to improve their ability to think critically and operate strategically, all of which PME offers,” said Brig. Gen. Michelle Mulberry, Chief of Staff of the Wyoming Air National Guard.

Airman First Class Nathan Johnson, an Aerospace Medical Technician assigned to the 153rd Airlift Wing, had recently completed his technical training at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss. Having received his EMT license less than 24 hours prior, Johnson was on his way home aboard the first leg of his trip to Houston.
